Carlota Valente, a well-known ceramist from Arraiolos, has joined forces with Ravasqueira in an initiative to unite ancestral practices of the region. Wine and ceramics come together in a traditional programme that challenges visitors to put their hands in the clay, accompanied by good wines. You can book your workshop directly on the Ravasqueira site (minimum groups of 5 people).
Bringing together the knowledge and flavours that mark the region is Ravasqueira's new venture, which aims to get visitors to get to know not only Ravasqueira's wines, but also the region's culture, handicrafts, biodiversity and gastronomy. Besides ecotourism, a programme started last month with biologist Mário Carmo, and which takes place once a month, Ravasqueira is now launching a ceramics workshop.
With Carlota Valente in charge of training, the workshop is for beginners and will allow an Introduction to Ceramic construction techniques and the shaping of clay, being able to take the piece they have created and decorated - after due drying. The session lasts 2 hours, followed by a Ravasqueira wine tasting session. Bearing in mind that this programme is family friendly, Ravasqueira has also created a special price for children, up to the age of 12.
Participants may define the wine tasting they wish to add to the workshop and also take the opportunity to taste traditional products (sausages and cheeses) while they enjoy the experience.
Ravasqueira will present a price of 50 euros per adult (with two wines) and 35 euros for children (with juice). Wine upgrades are allowed (there is a value for each level) and if you wish to taste local products, an extra 8 euros will be added. The initiative is available for booking on the Ravasqueira website, under Enoturismo | Ravasqueira.
