Krohn Colheita 2006
Krohn has gained recognition over the years for its phenomenal Colheita Ports. Colheita Ports come from a single high-quality year and are bottled with a minimum of seven years' ageing in wood. As a rule, they are only bottled immediately before being sold, which can happen well after the seventh year. For this reason, our Colheitas remain in wood for a long time, and acquire over time a mahogany color characteristic of old Tawnies, as well as a fine, complex bouquet, notes of walnuts and hazelnuts and a silky texture.
Intense color, brownish tawny core, with a broad brick-colored halo. The nose is harmonious and complex, mixing aromas of molasses and caramel with notes of plum and raisin, black tea leaves, cigar box and fleeting floral hints. On the palate, the first impression is one of softness and density, but as the wine develops, it reveals an attractive lightness, combining lively acidity with juicy plum flavors. The finish is an explosion of ripe, opulent flavors offset by a pleasant dry aftertaste. A wonderful, seductive wine at the perfect point of maturation.
